to the woman....

History...that's one among many things I have never been really fond of. Personal or world- history always reminded me of pain dreads and deads rather than anything glorious. Why do we need to visit past anyways?
But somehow the last pharaoh of ancient Egypt, Cleopatra, never failed to fascinate me. She challenged many ancient customs and broke many traditions. Her love for Mark Antony is another history altogether. And her use of Julius Caesar to get back her throne. She was a woman of immense beauty and power and knew how to use them. Such was her effect that Caesar erected a golden statue of her in the temple representing her as Isis, an Egyptian goddess worshiped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic.

There are a number of unverifiable stories about Cleopatra, of which one of the best known is that, at one of the lavish dinners she shared with Antony, she playfully bet him that she could spend ten million sestertii on a dinner. He accepted the bet. The next night, she had a conventional, unspectacular meal served; he was ridiculing this, when she ordered the second course — only a cup of strong vinegar. She then removed one of her priceless pearl earrings, dropped it into the vinegar, allowed it to dissolve, and drank the mixture.

Not even in the history have I come across any one with such outrage insanity and power. She knew her powers as a woman and not only used it to its fullest but also made the world to recognize the power of a woman. What can you ask a woman who can make a man worship her like a Goddess. Nothing actually. She had the capacity to get any one tongue tied.

I know it sounds crazy. Dont blame me, I told you already am not as much fond of history. I still feel bygones are better left to be bygones, that we should still let the dead rest in their graves. Walking down the lanes of history is a tedious job. The more you visit, the more you will want to explore. The more answers you will get, the more questions will arise from its own ashes. Let the history rest in peace.
