Redemption

I was tempted, tempted to hit them all so hard that they die. I clutched my fingers so tight that my palms bled. I slowly walk away trying to ignore the sound, but it followed me around the college.

"frog boy, frog boy, frog boy"

I started walking briskly and then broke in to running but the sound followed me everywhere. I reached home, slammed the door shut and hide in a dark corner of the room. The anger consumed me and I slept. I did not realize until my mother dragged me around shrieking at me,

"Nivaan, get ready for the school."

"No mamma, I don't want to go to school."

"What is it with your everyday drama. I am so fed up."

She somehow managed to put me into my uniform and threw me out with my bag. I was fuming with anger. So cruel, my mom. I went around the school but did not get in. I found a corner where no one could spot me but I could watch everyone coming and going. And then I saw her. Jasmine. She stepped down from  premium car. She was rich and beautiful. She had a flawless skin and long flowing hairs. She looked like an angel with those big eyes. I couldn't help following her. She was the miss popular. I was so busy with my misery that I didn't notice her earlier. And now looking at her I knew all my misery was going to end. I sucked at maths, a subject she aced at. that was my chance. I talked to my teacher to assign me someone who could help me with maths. Touched by my concern she was assigned to me. I knew everything is going to be all right now. She taught me, but she never looked at me. I thought if I tell her how I feel about her, she will feel the same for me and we will live happily freaking forever. But sooner I came to know those forever only exist in books. Exams were around. College was closed for preparation break. We sat on the bench in a secluded park, studying.

"I need a smoke break", She said.

I wondered if her fans back at college knows that she smokes. I assumed this was the right time to tell her how I feel about her. I was looking for some nice flattering way to tell her but it just came out rushing.

"Jasmine, I love you."

She stared at me for what felt like eternity, and then she broke in to laughter. I was hurt.

"I am serious Jasmine."

She stopped laughing. She sounded serious when she said.

"I once heard a story of a princess and a frog. The princess kisses the frog and it turns in to prince. Will you turn into a prince if I kiss you frog boy?"

And she rolled over with laughter. I did not know what happened. Last thing I remembered was  she was laughing at me and next second she was on the ground with me on top straddling her. My hands ache as I pushed them hard on her throat. I had no idea what happened. I was so confused and may be screwed too. I looked at her. She was the girl I loved. What have I done? I felt pathetic. Then she moaned. I jumped with joy, she was alive.

"You bastard, You tried to kill me. I will call the police. You don't know my dad. He will kill you."

I was scared and angry, very very angry. She kept on mocking me between sputtering blood. beaten to the pulp but still a bitch. I was mad at her and before I knew I took a large rock and smashed her face. I was scared. My ear buzzed and my heart thumped like it will jump out of my chest. The feel of her blood on my skin calmed me. I had to get rid of her body. I dragged her to the river flowing near the secluded park. I emptied her bag pack and her purse trying to make it look like robbery. And I thought I deserved something after going through so much pain. Not much of cash, so much for a rich broad. there were plenty of cigarette, some drugs and contraceptives. I knew she wasn't as nice as she pretended to be. She deserved to die. I have redeemed her. In that moment I knew God has chosen me to redeem all the bad people. I felt good. I was proud be the chosen one for this task. I filled her bag pack and her pockets with rocks and thew her down the river.

"Satan bless her soul for God don't bless bad people."

I took off my blooded shirt, tied some rocks in it and threw it down the river with her. I held my bag pack tightly across my chest and walked home in utter peace. I did not know I had reached my home until I heard my mother screaming at me for lost shirt. It did not bother me. I fell face down on to my bed to get some rest. I had so many things to do in coming days. I smiled and slept.

Whirlwind

"Nidhi, I have to go on business trip."

"Me too. How long will you be gone?"

"15  days."

"I will be gone for 3 weeks."

"I have to leave tomorrow."

"Me day after, I will drop the kids to my parent's tomorrow before I leave."

He held her through shoulders, "its just great that your parents stay in the same city." They hugged.

"I am going to miss you."

"Me too my lovely wife."

They have been married for 10 wonderful years now with three amazing kids. In two subsequent days they left for their trips. Everyday they chat over Skype and he never missed a chance of telling her how much he is missing her and how desperate he is to see her.

"I am going back tomorrow."

"That's great, I will be home in three days after you."

"Its going to be so lonely."

"Awww, I will be there soon na."

"Okay, see you then."

"Sure."

Her work was done a day earlier. she was very happy. She was eager to go home to her husband. She decided to surprise him. She was so thrilled to have a day to spend just with her husband after so long. She stood at the door, held her breath as she opened the door. But she stood surprised. The house was a mess, there were things scattered every where. It was apparent that there had been a party. At the table were pieces of cake an earring and his cell phone. No wonder he was not receiving her calls. She was stunned to see the earring that wasn't hers. He was sleeping, obviously drunk. the bed was no lesser a mess. There were a set of lingerie lying there which wasn't hers either. she was fuming but she waited till he gets up and sober.

"You have been cheating on me", she said in a dead cold voice.

"Baby listen, I can explain."

"How dare you, how dare you cheat on me." She shouted in anger.

"Baby, listen to me. I did not do it intentionally. I was drunk and I was missing you like hell. I was so drunk that i thought she was you and this happened. I didn't mean it. She is nothing to me. For me she was you." he dropped his voice to a more softer and intimate note. "Baby, we are still going to grow old together, if you forgive me for this. I love you."

He said it so convincingly that there was no chance of her suspecting infidelity. For her sake and for kids, she decided to forgive him. But no sooner, she stumbled across one email from one of his colleague name Molly.

I am still reeling from your work on me. Can't join you on your next trip and moreover my husband is home.

She held her head in her hands.

"So, he is cheating on me. I need to know more."

He left his laptop open while he was showering. She took a quick sneak-peak into his emails. One of  them read:

After you have briefed me in the meeting you can "debrief" me in the hotel room.

"How very juvenile."

And she ran to washroom vomiting. She still couldn't believe he was cheating on her. She confronted him when he came out from the shower. He, again, told her a sad story about his life which she knew was a lie. For the sake of kids she agreed him to take psychotherapy sessions, and he agreed. But she saw a greater infidelity when her younger daughter was diagnosed with serious illness and he defied to accept his responsibility. he turned around and walked out of the room to go to his office. That was that. She decided she could not stand any more of his infidelity. She knew he would have lead a double life cheating on her had she not caught her, but running away from his responsibility of his kids was way too much. She divorced him and never saw him again. Few months later when she visited her best friend, she saw the same earring, the single one, the same one she saw the first day she caught her husband cheating on her.

Runaway Bride

silhouette a girl and a boy

Orengish cloudy sky, soft winds blew her hair, they held hands and walked in to the ever lasting stretch of water. They sat on the rocks, her head on his shoulders.

"Its time. I need to leave now." She said.

"So soon?"

"Yes"

"Soon you won't have to leave ever."

"Umhmm"

"What happened baby?"

"Nothing"

"Nervous?"

"Yes. What if something goes wrong? What if we are caught?"

"Don't worry, I will take care of everything. You trust me right?"

"Of course"

"So the plan for tomorrow is confirmed?"

She nods her head.

"Don't worry everything is going to be fine. After tomorrow, we will be together forever. Relax and act normal."

"K"

At 3:00 a.m a day later

He stood nervously at the corner of the street, with his bike, waiting for her. After a while he saw her coming with a bag. He was relieved. She was sweating profusely.

"Everything okay?"

"Yes"

"You have brought everything with you?"

"Here"

"Come on let's leave before anyone sees us"

They hopped on the bike and drove away.

The newspapers read next day:

"Five members of a family murdered, cash and jewellery stolen. The daughter of the family missing. Theft suspected, but police have also put forward the murder angle."

A few days back there was again a news:

"The daughter of the slaughtered family found dead on the highway. A Love angle could be there......."
