humoring MLA's...are we??

There can be a thousand interpretation to the babasaheb Ambedkar cartoon in NCERT book. You can interpret it generally or offensively. The way you interpret it is the way you see it in your mind. And that my dear friend is your fundamental right.
cartooning has been for so long the most interesting and shortest way of criticism, humour, satire, wit and irony. banning it will plainly be so unfair. Okay you find cartoons offensive today, what tomorrow- the movies, the blogs ???
Lets see it this way- this is again censoring our freedom of expression...isn't it. Calling it 'contextual' is like saying the colour of sky is red. And by the way a picture that can bring all the 'Indian parliamentarians together' can't be that bad..can it be??
But then again is it just about a cartoon or shaping and influencing a mind that will be eligible enough to vote in coming years?? A cartoon like this, infact, opens a whole new horizon of thoughts and discussion to help them frame their own view. If you make it look offensive and pertaining to a particular section it will be seen like that, keep it open to views ad you will be surprised at the dynamism of mind (not that I am not amazed now). And for the likes of me who have been through the trauma of going through usually boring NCERT books will know particularly that it was these cartoons that kept us interested still. It will be a felony to have it removed.

Humour and satire is integral to democracy and of our fundamental right to speech and expression. but the again satire is a mighty powerful force- mighty enough to shape the outlook. This means we can not afford to trifle with everything and anything.
cartoons pertaining to an issue or an era should exist as long as it is valid and not beyond. it should and must change accordingly, with situation and time. What happened 60 years back loses its relevance today, mostly.
The way people see and interpret changes with time. And hence arises the controversies regarding a cartoon being offesive
Agree a political cartoon in a newspaper is okay. Why?? because it changes with time and issues at hand. While the ones in the NCERT books are as ancient as they can be. Wont changing them would have been a better option?
Well to conclude politicians and cartoonists are two people with immense power- one to shape the society and other to shape the views. Both must play responsible. Getting touchy on everything and creating such issues won't do any good to anyone...neither country nor you.
